New Pressure Group Starts in Sefton

New Pressure Group Formed to Fight Fracking

Residents from around the borough attended a presentation at the Gild Hall Formby to listen to members of FRACKOFF an experienced Anti Fracking pressure group to learn more about the impact of this form of energy production on the environment and local communities.

At the end of the meeting residents got together to form a local pressure group Sefton Against Fracking.  We are now looking for others who are concerned about this issue to come together and let our Council know in no uncertain terms that residents of Sefton do not want Fracking in the Borough, not only is the technology unproven and the benefits if any are short lived, the industrialisation of our countryside is not acceptable and the practice would undoubtedly be detrimental to one of our main industries Tourism.

This simply has to stop now!  All over Sefton there are seismic surveys occurring right now and applications for test drilling may be received within a year (this has been the time scale in other communities).  Don't wait until it is too late.  Act now!
